Martin Gobert (b. 2000) is a photographer based in The Hague.
Drawn to conceptual ideas, his work explores themes related to the human condition and its environment. His research method is very much influenced by social experiments and internet challenges, often using performance as a way to better understand the subjects he investigates.
Many of Martin’s projects starts from everyday observations and wondering how to disrupt conventional perspectives and challenge ideas often taken for granted. Embracing the banal and the ordinary, found materials play a significant role in his practice.
Inspired by confusion and playfulness, his work juggles between absurdity and rationality; between humor and seriousness.
He likes to create interactive installations that include the viewer which encourages them to reflect on their condition.
Martin is part of the artist initiative the_____servers.
He recently founded Biquet Studio a production house specialized in designing and screenprinting garments.
